Back to News FA GRASSROOTS UPDATE 08/04/21 The FA has provided an update on grassroots football in advance of step two of the Government’s roadmap. The Government has confirmed that on Monday 12 April we will enter step two of the roadmap. Our guidance has therefore been updated to reflect the changes to national restrictions. The key changes to note are in relation to spectators, use of changing rooms and outdoor hospitality. Leighton Park Rangers F.C. is very proud to been approved as an FA Wildcats Centre.Wildcats is for girls who want to get involved with football for the very first time or want the opportunity to play with other girls their own age. Our fun and inclusive sessions are all run by FA qualified coaches. We are currently starting our Wildcats at Minis (Reception age) and U6 (School Year 1). There is then a pathway for our Wildcats to develop all the way through the club up to U16s.At Wildcats, girls are able to play football
As per the recent Government announcement; from Saturday 29th December Central Bedfordshire and many of the surrounding areas will move into Tier 3 restrictions.
Outdoor training, leagues and competitions is allowed in Tier 3 areas. But we would ask you all to re-read the advice and closely follow the FA and Government guidelines….

We’re really pleased to launch two new teams and 30 new players through a very successful Mini Rangers programme.
This fantastic group will currently form 2 teams (The Tigers and the Eagles), but with the squad sizes could well be 4-5 teams next season.

On Monday 15th June 20 Leighton Park Rangers’ U12 Spitfires carried out a pilot training session in-line with current FA and Government guidelines. 3 committee members observed the session. The session split the players into two groups of 5 with one coach per group. There were more than two FA DBS checked adults in attendance. The session split the groups into two activities (fitness & agility / ball mastery), utilised player and coach stations, only included boot-to-ball play and observed social distancing at all times.
Following the Governments’ announcements, guidance issued by Beds FA and a committee meeting, Leighton Park Rangers will be running a pilot restricted training session next week. As always the safety and well-being of our players, parents/carers, coaches and the wider community are of paramount importance to the club.
